Michael Ostrow graduated from Brandeis University with a BA in philosophy. His interest in philosophy and "mind-body" disciplines led him to study Zen Buddhism for a number of years, before finding what for him was "applied philosophy" or "Western Zen," namely the Alexander Technique. He found it to be the most practical and effective way to free himself from unconscious habits and rigidity, and to develop a much deeper level of self-awareness. He also spent his early years studying classical piano - unfortunately without the benefit of the Alexander Technique. Since completing his training in the Technique, he has investigated how to play with less tension and more awareness and sensitivity. This has helped him better understand the needs of musicians.
鈥婬e has assisted in the training of Alexander Technique teachers from 1995 to 2001. He has also studied with the renowned breathing and voice expert Carl Stough, and has been authorized to teach his work. He has worked with a wide variety of clients, from performing artists and athletes to people with chronic pain. He has recently helped clients with asthma and obstructive pulmonary disease improve their breathing to the point where they no longer needed inhalers, and has helped a client with spasmodic dysphonia, a condition in which speaking is strangled and labored, to recover her voice.

re-certification requirements every year with the Feldenkrais Guild of
North America. Working with professional musicians has been a strong
interest over the past 30 years, finding how to take unhelpful effort
and tension out of the improvement of technique. Together with fellow
Feldenkrais teacher Samantha Damoulakis, he has been teaching in two
Feldenkrais classes a semester at xxxx视频 since 2013. This collaboration
has been quite helpful in the ongoing exploration of how to meet
individual students where they are.
